    Hunter Tarot

Post by Hunter Tarot on Sun Apr 27, 2014 7:52 pm

    Name: Hunter Tarot
    Epithet: Mellow Machine Gun
    Age: 19
    Gender: Male
    Race: Human
    Sexuality: Heterosexual

    Affiliation: Pirate
    Occupation: Marksman

    Appearance:

Hunter has a rather skinny/lanky appearance, which he hides behind his clothing, but has a decent amount of muscle, more so in his arms than his legs, to keep himself from looking like a total beanpole. His skin has no visible blemishes upon it other than a large, pale blast shaped scar on his back. Hunter tends to wear a white, open jacket that has a symbol of a black crab on the back with a fuse coming out of the top of it's head, a black stripe going down the side of the sleeves, and has black fur lining the brim of the hood. Thanks to the jacket being open primarily, it shows that Hunter wears a dark blue t-shirt underneath. Other than that, Hunter wears a pair of slightly baggy, but not enough so to impair movement, black cargo pants, and outfits himself in a pair of black and white travelling shoes. Minor effects noticeable on Hunter is that he wears a pair of reading glasses, which sit over his lapis lazuli blue eyes, wears a black newsie cap on his head. He is always seen carrying a satchel full of gunsmith tools, and carries a modified machine gun covered in a bundle of white cloth strapped on his back.

    Hair Color: Dark Brown

    Skin Tone: Pale White

    Height: 5'11"

    Weight: 130 lbs.

    Personality:

Hunter has a laid back personality, appearing lazy to some. He doesn't lack energy or ambition, it's just that he prefers to work at his own pace and deal with problems calmly. He places more trust in those around him more than he does in weapons or fists, which he finds strange considering how much he believes in his tools. He will go to any length to help a person who he feels is a friend, and has a very good sense of determining who's trustworthy and who's not. He never tends to speak up about things that bother him, generally keeping to himself about such things. This fact about him is only void when he feels that the subject that is bothering him could be potentially dangerous to those around him. He generally gets along with most people because of this, basically never making enemies... For the most part, at least. Hunter is also very devoted, and will devote his own time and resources to get a job done. It may take a little time and evidence for Hunter to begin completely trusting someone, but when he does begin trusting someone, he will follow them into the pits of hell if asked.

    Likes:
-Tinkering with, repairing, and maintaining firearms and cannons
    -Gunsmithing
    -Reading

    Dislikes:
    -People who abuse his trust
-When his friends are in danger
    -Being interrupted

    Motivations:

Hunter has a few goals in life. He wants to become a well-known, respected pirate so that his name will make it back to his home of Fireworks Island. Hunter would also enjoy joining a crew of, preferably, like-minded Pirates, and maybe someday find love and return to wherever he decides to call home. He wants to create, possibly with the help of a crew or others, a gun of his own design like his mentor has in the past. Finally, Hunter wants to surpass the man who taught him everything he knows in skill and knowledge.

    Fears:
-The people he trusts most betraying him.
-Dying before he can accomplish anything.
    -Letting a friend die.

    Behavior/Habits:

Although being a laid back person, Hunter maintains himself as a studious person. He trains his skills whenever he can, and reads whenever he has a chance too. To counter this, Hunter's never had a too vibrant social life. He knows how to talk and act around people, it's just that he's never been too fast to make friends. No one his age when he was younger wanted to put in the time to give him evidence and time to get used to them, so friends weren't a commodity to Hunter. This never seemed to bother him, outwardly at least, and his family and mentor never paid much attention to it. Along with this, a girlfriend was practically an impossibility. In Hunter's own words, "My chances of finding a girl back home who'd put in the time to get to know me were slim to none. And there's not even a lot to get to know! And besides, their personalities were nothing to double take at." This wasn't said out of spite or out of vanity, simply out of the truth of the situation. Hunter isn't one for lying, only ever doing so out of necessity.

    History:

Hunter was born on Fireworks Island to an average couple who both worked as Fireworks Launchers.. This meant that he practically grew up around explosives. When he began to grow up, his parents wanted him to start learning the trade, and for a while, he did. And he actually wasn't too shabby at it. However, an accident led him off from the life as a Fireworks Launcher. Hunter was trying to create a firework of his own design to wow his parents and others when they saw it. What he didn't realize however, is that he had misgauged the amount of powder needed for the effect he had wanted to create, adding in more than necessary, and made the fuse too short. This way, as he began to realize that he had made a childish mistake, just then noticing the fuse length, he could only turn away to begin to start running from the firework before it exploded in all directions, the make of the canister failing thanks to an inability to handle the force made from the amount of powder used. Thankfully a fire wasn't started, as the area Hunter used was a small clearing a little ways away from any trees, but Hunter's back was wounded from the explosion. The damage wasn't enough to cause serious back problems, but it was enough to damage his skin to the point of scarring. To this day, there remains a pale, blast shaped scar imprinted onto his back. His parents told him, while he was recovering at home from the blast after being found due to the unknown (to others) explosion, that, if he believed that their wanting him to be a Firework Launcher would cause him to go through events like the failed firework again, then he could try finding something of his own to occupy the time he wouldn't be spending with them, and to maybe turn into a career. While Hunter didn't believe that continuing on the path of his parents would wind up doing anything worse to him than what had already been done at that point (childish naivety), he was curious at the idea of finding his own way. He had always been following parents up until that point, so he had no clue that there was any other route available to him. So with that, Hunter told his parents that he would begin looking for something to do after he could take off the bandages from his back, and he explained that he was the one to blame, not them. So, after sometime had passed, Hunter began to search for what to occupy his time with. After spending most of a day walking around the town located on the island, Hunter nearly gave up, until he found an interesting old, wooden building on the outskirts of the town. It looked fairly well-kept, and had a sign that said 'Howl's Gunsmithy'. Intrigued at what exactly a gunsmithy was, Hunter entered the building. Lined from wall to wall where guns of all shapes and sizes. Muskets, pistols, machine guns, rifles, there were even a few display cannons for whatever purpose. At the sight of this, Hunter realized that all manner of firearms were made here, and the sight was oddly beautiful. Something about the sight of all these beautifully crafted guns all in one room was mesmerizing to him. And sitting behind the counter, there sat an old, white haired man wearing a pair of reading glasses, and sporting a long beard. But this was no ordinary old codger. This man, Hunter imagined, most likely would stand at somewhere right above 6'5", and appeared more muscular than most old man should. He wore a black bandanna that sported a fading jolly roger, and a blank tank top and fire retardant pants and work boots. In other words, this man looked like he was built for any smithing job in the world. Hunter, although a little surprised at the man's appearance, realized that this must be the owner of the shop for which it was named by. Howl. Hunter at this time, was 9 years old, and stood at 5'1", so the man towered above him, even when he was sitting, as Hunter approached the counter. "Did you make all these yourself?" The young Hunter asked, getting used to the sight of the mountain of a man towering over him. Howl looked down at the young boy with a kind yet stern eye. "Yes, young man. Yes I did. I'd never sell anything made by another gunsmith. I'd consider it a sign of weakness." Hunter's eyes gained a glint of childish wonderment, his excitement evident in on his face. Without another thought, Hunter asked, "Do you think you could teach me to make guns like you?" What Hunter didn't know, was that Howl was a retired marksman from a now split up pirate crew. He had retired on Fireworks Island because he remembered how him and the rest of the crew had loved the fireworks shows there, and now, in his old age, he was looking for an apprentice. Howl, elated at the heavens bringing him a young charge to pass his knowledge onto, fake mulled it over for a minute or so. "Well, young man, I believe you've come at an opportune time. I'm getting old, and I've been waiting for a young'un like yourself to take an interest in my work. And, considering you're the first one to appreciate my work in a long time, I believe you'd make a fine apprentice." Hunter jumped for joy, and the next day, with the permission from his albeit worried parents, he began to work and study out of Howl's shop. There, he learned the gunsmithing trade from start to finish, taking in everything that Howl could teach him. However, Howl didn't just teach him to make the weapons, he taught him how to use them. It was during the time when Hunter was learning to handle the guns, that Howl noticed that his young charge was more so a natural at using the firearms than he was at making them... and Hunter was pretty good in the smithy mind you. It made Howl remember the days when him and his friends used to get into huge firefights with the Marines and other pirates, and in Hunter, he saw a younger version of himself. With that, while they were practicing with their wares themselves, or making them, Howl began to recount tales of the pirate lifestyle, and the ins and outs of living on a ship, the positions and their importance to a crew. Listening to his master recount stories from his youth, Hunter said that he wanted to become a gun-totting, marksman Pirate someday, as well a gunsmith, like Howl. Howl laughed at Hunter's claim. "Well, looks like you're becoming more like me than I thought. Cause that's what I said to my mentor before I finished my gunsmith training." Ceasing his laughter, Howl's eyes gained a more serious look to them. "If that's actually how you feel, IF, then I can give you the things necessary for you to get a start in the pirate world. You can leave as soon as you finish your training, you reaching the age when most young men leave home anyways (Hunter was 18 at this point), and you can leave on the next ship leaving port that day." Hunter, although being more laid back at this point, still jumped for joy, much as his younger self had done years before. And so, for the next year, Howl moved to finishing Hunter's training, and gave his apprentice a satchel full of tools needed to repair and tinker with any firearms he came across, a modified version of a machine gun that Howl had created years ago called the 'Triple R', and he gave Hunter permission to rename the modified version of the gun whenever he chose to. He also gave Hunter a small pouch of money, enough to get him somewhere and pay for a little food, but Howl wanted Hunter to learn to provide for himself, so that was all he gave his apprentice in terms of money. So, after saying goodbye to Howl and his parents, Hunter bought his way onto the next ship leaving Fireworks Island's port to set off on his pirate journey. Howl stood at the docks, Hunter's parents waving their son goodbye as the ship sailed out of view, and smiled, a small tear escaping his right eye. His head wasn't covered by the bandanna that held the insignia of his past crew. The bandanna was now wrapped around his apprentice's left arm, a sign that he entrusted his hopes and dreams with Hunter. As Howl turned to leave, the ship now no longer within normal human sight, muttered under his breath words he had said to Hunter before he had left, "I leave the world to you. Go forth, and fulfill your dreams. Become the sort of storied personage I can brag about training and being the son I never had." However, he added another line that he kept to himself. "Have fun with this one, ya Marine bastards." And with that, Howl laughed heartily on his way home, with Hunter looking to the future. Where would he wind up? Who would he meet? What would he do? These were the questions he asked himself, sitting on the deck of the ship. But in the end, he looked at the horizon as seagulls flew over head, and the sun began to dip over the edge of the sea. "Who knows?"
