Kindred Souls

Emerald sat upon the grass of the open fields. Her long blonde hair scattered across her whole body. Her big emerald eyes were filled with frustration as she talked on the den den mushi. Her black dress circled around her not showing her legs. It was hard to show that she was actully an adult when she looked like a child. Emeralds voice fluttered lightly in the breeze trying to keep her calm.

"Yes. I will return as soon as I can." Emerald said for the thrid time. "As I keep saying the boat I was on wasnt there when I got back." The voice on the den den mushi was masculine and can be recognized as a male. She signed once again for the nineteenth time. "I will be there soon." In the back ground she heard what sounds like wheels and a thud. She looked up in the air to see a boy fly down towards her. "I have to go." She hung up the den den mushi and slipped it inside her bag.

Emerald raced towards the boy. Her eyes blank but there was a hint of concern. Her long blonde hair gather around her in shiny locks. Her small body's no match for him. She was so tiny compared to him. Emerald lifted her dress, exposing her white legs. She then grabbed a box not very small and not very big that was strapped to her thigh. She opened the box and looked at him.

"Are you hurt?"

The doll asked

Emerald watched the young looking man. Her eyes showed no emotions now. She grabbed his arm tightly and sat down besides him. She listened to the man attentively as she applied some alcohol to his elbow. She noted in her head about his sister.

"If we didnt fight for anything. Then there will be no ambitions. People fight for things they beileve in"

As she put the bandage on his wound.

"But I understand what you mean. If the world was at peace then I will be."

She looked up at him. Her green eyes stared into his looking for his answer.

Emerald looked up at the people that flocked the boy she was talking too. She was a bit pissed that she was called tiny. Young but that was normal. The doll like girl gazed up at the people. She wasnt famouse yet. Not just yet. Emerald got up and was about to walk away when the marine stopped her.

"Littler girl do you know this man." The marine asked.

Emerald knew nothing of the young man. Only that she just met him. She then grabbed her little box and strapped it back on to her leg. She grabbed Lazarus hand. Her dull looking eyes changed fast. They became childish like.her whole demeanor changed instantly. "Im sorry. Its my fault." Her voice became high pitched. "My big brother was just being nice to me. Please forgive me."

The little boy look like he was Emerald's age. "Im sorry. My big brother was suppose to meet me for lunch. And he was running late. I was so worried. Since our parnets died. I.. I just cant live without big brother." Emeralds whole body grabbed Lazarus.

The Marien looked at Lazarus and back at Emerald.

"Is this true?"

Emerald gazed up at Lazarus. Her eyes hinted for him to follow along.

Emerald watched the marine leave before going limp. She stepped on Lazarus foot and untangled herslef from him. Her eyes showed a him of blackmail. "I like sweets."

She said to him. Her eyes watching his every movement.

"Also I am not a little girl."

Emeralds doll like figure said the exact opposite. Her skin was clear and creamy white. Her cheeks showed a little red but no make up visible. Her big emerald eyes were outlined by thickened childlike eye lashes. Her tiny body was that the size of an eight year old. The only thing that even seemed remotely adult like was her speech.

"Understand?"

She stiffen under his grip when they time traveled. She wrapped her arms around him toghtly. Her big green eyes showednshock. He was a devil fruit user she noted.

"Red." She said of course while letting go of his arm. She never seen something so wonderful before. This was the forst time ever really seeing a devil fruit so close to her.

"I dont drink." Emerald. Responded to his next question. She hates drinking because of her low tolerance to alcohol.

"But I will take you up on that offer. I want to see this city." Her eyes danced when she gazed upon him.

"My name is Emerald."

Lazarus: Nice to meet you Emerald. Let's go and see the city shall we!

Lazarus reached out and grabbed Emerald's hand putting her on his back and warping a few meters at a time down the road until the reached the city of Biblia Chora. Biblia Chora, known as the city of White Wine, was one of the many cities within the establishment of Micqueot. Lazarus turned over the red licorice to Emerald and placed the white on into the side of his mouth. He put her down off his back, pointing at the various pubs, shops and swings that were located all over Biblia Chora. 


Lazarus: Originally, Micqueot was formed by a bunch of marines turned merchant who were looking to strike big in the North Blue. Then they grew this place and divided it up into many cities though historically their more like towns. There is a wine shop on every stretch and food shops on the adjacent stretch to match the wine your indulging in. Lazarus ducked into one of the stores, dragging Emerald along with him.

When Lazarus scooped her up on his back. Emerald made a tiny sound almost like a yelp. Her face turned red a little. As they jumps through time Emeralds body stiffen. It was so awesome and her excitement burst. Something so amazing and she got to witness it first hand. Her grip around Lazarus tighten as they jumped through time but loosen when he started talking about the small city. She took every word in account. The liccore she recieved from him was gone by the time he set her down.

Emerald nodding when Lazarus brought up she was a light wieght. Her eyes glued on the girls snake tattoo. Emerald was a fan of snakes and loved them. Her body became stiff as a board as she watched the girl. She was beautiful. The snake tattoo just brought into her beauty.

Emeralds whole body turned on fire when she heard the word wife. She never thought about those kind of things. Kissing, hugging, and sleeping next to each other. Emerald's mind raced with perverted thoughts. Her whole body trembled. Then she looked at Lazarus and Jude KISSING. She felt faint. She felt heavy. Emerald's body couldn't take it. She turned to stone. Her whole body frozed. Such a thing done in front of her. She knew about it in books but those were books. It never occurred to her that people actully do that stuff.

When jude said something there was comprehending of the words. Only the wink.

"Y-y-yeah."

The embarrassed girl watched them and then finally understood. They were family. Emeralds blush calm down but a tint was still there from misunderstanding. Her emerald eyes gazed at the two aunt and nephew. Her stomach filled with warmth. This of course wasn't the first time witnessing family members together. Although it was the first time to interact with them.

Jude grabbed Emerald's hand as she led her away from the two boys. Emerald took one last glance at Lazarus to see if he was okay. She hopped that he wasn't too hurt by the punch. She would have to doctor him up. She noted in her head.

Jude: I was just kidding about the wife thing.. I just like to fluster Laz. He's good kid, since his parents died he's never been chipper until he became a pirate. Apparently his crew is missing, he spent a whole year looking for them, even went to the Grandline and was utterly defeated. He was devastated when they went missing. He spent all of this time cooped up on some Island in the North Blue perfecting some wacky ability of his.

Emerald had forgotten that Lazarus was a pirate in fact. She listened to the doting aunt. She seemed to really cared for the young man.

Jude: I told him not to become a Devil Fruit user.. Sigh, he never listens. Laz is right! I do talk a lot but don't tell him I said that.

Tightening her grip on Jude. She remembered a person like this with her. Shaking away that feeling. Emerald clutched on to her dress. She didn't want to remember such a thing. Not any more. She was living a new life.

"I don't understand completely, but I know. He wants to be stronger to protect the things dear to him. His crew disappearing must have been a blow. The next crew he has. I bet he wont let go of them."

Her gaze looked up at Jude's. It was a sadden gaze. A gaze that was telling a sad story but was hidden behind a wall. A wall of sand that was slowly falling. A small smile appeared over her pink lips.

"You must care strongly for him."

Walking around the shop of wine was different for Emerald. She gazed upon the red bottles and thought only of blood. Her vision became filled with the color and for a brief minute she was back to her old pitiful self. How her father pierced her best friend in the heart and laughed. The vision faded away. Emerald had that blank expression again.

Jude: I don't know how long you might have known Lazarus, but for me, please be a good friend to him. There's not many people he can trust. If he brought you here, he must have like you!

Friend. Friend. The word echoed through her head. She hasn't had a friend for such a long time. In the revolutionary she mostly worked alone. She never really called anyone a friend. They were all acquaintances nothing more. Could she be such a friend? How can she? She let her best friend get murdered in front of her.

"I-I-I"

Emerald stumbled on the words and was thankful that Lazarus came at the time he did.

Lazarus: I heard my name! What story are you telling her now auntie!?

Jude: The one when you ran around the town naked because your brother hid your swim suit!

Lazarus: I told you that never happened! I lost it...

Jude: So easy to tease! Let's have a toast! Something alcoholic this time! I like Emerald! She's so adorable! I'll make her my little sister! Prepare the cups Lazzy!

Lazarus: Oh! Those ones eh!?

Stupid. This people didn't even know her. How can they trust her so easily? Stupid people. But what was this fuzzy feeling? Happiness? It didn't matter. Family. What was even family? As far as Emerald knew, family would betray each other in the end. Her mother left her. Her father locked her in a room and then murdered her best friend.

As Lazarus brought out the cups. Emerald looked at them. She was frustrated. She bit her tongue not wanting to hurt their feelings. Of course that was hard to do.

Jude: There's an old saying that if you share Sake with someone special, you can become eternal friends, like kin, brother and sister.

Lazarus: She's already save my life once for the day.. I do feel inclined to protect her! Sure! Let's do it!

Protect? Who would protect who. After this Emerald would be leaving to the revolutionary camp. She would probably never see him again. These words meant everything to her though. She was happy that someone was going to protect her. Although the memories kept washing over her. Lord Jackal was suppose to protect her. He promised they BOTH would get through it. He died and Emerald had the scars to prove that she is the culprit of his death.

Jude: And I'll be your big sister, feel free to stop back whenever you like!

Lazarus & Jude: Cheers!

Emerald watched as they drank their drinks. She was against this. She kept on telling herself no but for some reason her heart was saying yes. Her gut was telling her to drink all of it. To finally at least make one more friend. But she didn't want to have to hear about his death.

"I'll only promise to drink this.. You never die. That if something bad happens you will call me. That if you are in trouble you will not hesitate and call me."

Emerald dug in her bag. She pulled out two den den mushis. She placed them in front of them. She didn't want anyone to die anymore. She wanted peace. Emerald decided long ago she will abolish slavery and free the world of its chains of hatred.

"I will protect you."

She took her sake cup and drank every last bit of it. Her head was piling up with sad memories but she wanted to have new memories. She wanted to have happy memories. Those sad memories were of her weak self. These memories are of her strong self.

Emerald looked at them. Her face was blank but inside her body was filled with happiness. It felt almost right to be here. Jude's warm hug and Lazarus strong hand on her head.

Marine: Lazarus D. King! You are under arrest!

Emerald looked at Lazarus. She reached into her dress pulling out five senbons. Her gaze suddenly changed into a deadly one. She pushed Jude behind her swiftly. Even for a small girl she was strong. Although Emerald was not needed in this battle.

Lazarus had this in the bag. She watched in astonishment at the boy. He was strong. Very strong indeed. In one swift movement she was on his back. The small girl wrapped her legs and arms around him. She felt like a monkey or a little child.

It was even worst when Jude brought out the bike. Emerald squeezed on to Lazarus tightly hoping that she doesn't get hurt. Emerald whispered into Jude's ear softly when she kissed her cheek.

"I have always imagine my mother to be just like you. I will become the most dangerous man in the world and see you again."

Emerald rode off with Laz. Her long blonde hair danced in the wind as they rode. Her dress fluttered behind her. The wind felt great through her hair. She smiled brightly as they rode but soon faded when she was flying through the air and into a pond.

Lazarus: Help- Me- Sis! x__x

Emerald flipped her messy hair back and grabbed a hold of him. Her tiny body pushed Lazarus up on the shore. She flopped down besides him and started laughing. She laughed on how this whole day went. How she met Lazarus. How she finally had a family. How this world isn't as bad she thought.

She was laughing so hard that treas fell from her eyes. It was too damn funny. She then looked at Lazarus. She lifted her dress up and pulled out her medical box. There was a scratch on Lazarus face.

"Lazarus D. King. Parents died. Currently looking for his sister that likes the color emerald. Also has a brother that he never mentions. Easily befriends people. Has a kind people watching out for him such as for Jude and that man you were talking too. Your pretty clumsy and you seem to always fall from the sky like an angel."

Emerald looked into Lazarus eyes.

"I have memorized almost everything I have heard about you."

When Emerald put on Jude's clothes they were kind of short. She wore black shorts that came past her finger tips. Her long white legs showed through the dark night. She only really wore Lolita type clothing and never really bothered with the normal wear. Since she actually designed all of her clothing. Her shirt was a loose tang top that was a dark black. Her arms were just as white as her legs. Her long blonde hair fell in white locks making it touch the ground. Reaching to hang up her dress Emerald threw it up next to Lazarus clothes.

Lazarus: Ouch! It's not that I don't talk about my brother! It's just I never have a reason too. My brother was the golden child. Once upon a time, they were two princes and a princess. They lived happily in a big castle. Their dad trained the princes to be warriors and the princess to be a great bride. One prince was viewed as a genius, savior of his people, the next prince, wanted to be a pirate. His father thought that was ridiculous, all of the Phantom family was to be Marines! His brother left to be revolutionary and was pretty powerful too, he was known as the "Black Stag". With his brother gone, the younger prince was left to run the Kingdom. His father trained him night and day, in the ways of the Phantom but he was slow learner. Not because of his intelligence, he just didn't care. All he wanted was to be out on the high seas. I guess he got his wish. The prince was no longer prince... he was an orphan. His family's dying message was to "be happy and take care of your sister" Anything I am, is because of them. So if i'm angel to few and a devil to the rest of the world, then I'm happy! Ha!

Emerald looked at him. Her over curious mind wandered for awhile. She remembered hearing about the "Black Stag" when she first joined and how he died. But she never thought she would meet his brother. Thats when a call came from the den den mushi in her bag.

"Ill be right back."

Emerald walked over to her bag and saw that it was from headquarters.

"Emerald"

"Emerald!! I have been trying to call you all day. Why haven't you picked up?! Where are you?! We need you back on base as soon as possible. We have a big mission for you that only you can do."

"I will be at the camp as soon as I can. I promise, but right now I am relaxing. Please give me more time."

"Fine... Since you have been working hard at the camp, but only a few days. NO LONGER THAN FOUR DAYS!"

"I understand I will be there as late as possible."

"You better Wiccan Doll! I don't want Headquarters waiting any longer!"

Emerald hung up the phone and looked at Lazarus. She gave him a small smile. She walked towards to him. Her hair brushing against the grassy floor. Extending her hand she patted his head lightly.

"The greatest people fall, but the only way they get back up is by friends. My name is Emerald Villads. I am a Revolutionary member. My dream is to end slavery and break the chains of hatred."

Lazarus: There up ahead!

The small village covered grassy lands reminded her of her own hometown. She lifted her nose in the air smelling grapes all around the area. The aura wrapped itself around the small girl. Following Lazarus closely Emerald analyzed him. This man knew nothing about her but some minor things but he treated her with kindness and even named her his sister. How can one human being have so much kindness?

Emerald looked up at the shop that they were at. It was cozy shop that had the scent of home sweet home.

Lazarus: Ol' Lady Betty-ya! You home!?

Jasmine: If your looking for grandma she's out in the fields!

Another beautiful lady of course strolled out of the shop. Her body was wavy in all the right places and that thick long black hair only came down to her lower back. She was lean and showed if off pretty well with the clothes she had on. Compared to Emeralds clothing. Emerald wore the dress she had on yesterday. She didn't want to wear the oversize clothing of Jude's, she felt restricted in those clothes and felt more free being in her own clothes.

When the grandmother came out, she admittedly gave hugs. Emerald was a bit disappointed since the grandma was actually a little taller than her.

Lazarus: This is Emerald! She's my sister!

Once Lazarus introduced her. Emerald gave the old women a curtsy. She had practiced this several times since she was once a noble. The wide eyes of the doll like girl danced across the old women. She looked to the old women's eyes and then back to her structure. Although she was old she wasn't frail. Emerald could make out the muscles of the hardworking grandmother through her clothes.

Betty:She must be special Laz-ya... Especially, with you mucking all around the world with that crew of yours and now back here! With a blonde! Ha! Aren't you blessed?

The doll like girl turned red upon hearing the old women say such a thing. She wasn't going to get use being called Lazarus wife. She wasn't going to get use to anyone calling her a wife. Emerald touched her hair. she wasn't sure to take that as a compliment or an insult.

Betty: You missy will be helping me prepare the dough for the pizza! Just follow my hand movements and you'll be much better off than that knuckle head over their.

Emerald followed Betty in the back. Emerald washed her hands int eh sink and dried them off. Placing flour next on her hands and began to move her hands with the dough. She watched the old women move her hands. She followed suit. After awhile it became pretty easy to understand.

"How long have you known Lazarus Betty?"

Emerald wanted to get a sense of how these people were day by day. How each person knew of the man that had just became her brother.

"Lazarus is a decent man as i can tell. On the first day i met him.. he seemed very different. Betty, when he does get a wife. I am sure she will be very different like him."

Emerald knew that they were all teasing Lazarus of course, but she found that each one of them hinted that he will soon find someone. That each one wanted him to settle down and not get hurt.

"i sense that you care a lot for him. I will protect him as much as I can."

Emerald gave the sweet old lady a smile. Her emerald eyes shown with understanding.

"I am sorry but I am not sure what to do next. This is the first time I ever made pizza."

Emerald did as Betty told her. She lightly glazed the dough in the tomato sauce. She gave them a small smile as she spread its contents on the pizza. When she turned around and saw Lazarus remove the tiny bit of Tomato sauce on her nose. Her face turned a crimson red. Her bangs covered her eyes so that he didn't see the tiny treas coming through. Can a person fill up with so much happiness and cry from it? That was a definite yes. She turned her back to Lazarus and continued with the pizza.

Her gazed drifted to Lazarus at certain moments. Only to find him being normal with his family. Letting her hand drift to her heart. It had been iced cold for so long, but it was being slowly thawed out by people close to her. She would never forget these people.


When the pizza was finally done. Emerald felt kind of proud of herself. She had been working on her cooking skills for some time now. Although this was the first time she ever created pizza before. It felt like a whole new journey that she was exploring. Warm smiles, happy faces, nothing wrong. No death. It was almost too perfect for Emerald.

Betty: Eme-ya is a natural in the kitchen. Her cuts are so precise! You have the makings of a great women! All great women can cook but always reach for more! Hahaha!

Emerald smiled warmly at the old lady. She voice drifted in the air of happiness.

"If you weren't there it would have been much harder to make."

She let out a small giggle of excitement as she took a sip of the red wine. She never knew that food tasted great with people around.

Jasmine: Hey.. How do you feel seeing Lazarus eat food you cooked!? You know what they say, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!

Emerald glanced over at Lazarus. She watched as she munched on his food. A small smile drifted along her lips. Her blank looking eyes turned soft as she gazed at him.

"Happiness."

She turned towards Jasmine and smiled brightly.

"I feel like I can fly."

Emerald then continued to eat her food. She never felt so high up in the air before. When everyone was having a good time and cheering and laughing. Emerald crawled out with a piece of pizza in hand. She opened the door to the fresh night sky. She let in engulfed her body. Working her away a little way from the house she peered up at the deep sky. She set the pizza down by her feet and got on her knees. Pressing her hands together she spoke aloud.

"Sir Jackal."

The name drifted in the mid night breeze.

"I am sorry, but.. I made friends."

Tears ran down her face. She then looked up at the stars and smiled.

"I am not a perfect person. I never meant to get you killed, but I just want you to know that.. Well... I will accomplish our goals and I will make friends while doing it."

Emerald looked up at the sky and let her arms hung down on the sides of her body. She then looked at the pizza and smiled.

"How stupid."

The sunlight woke the tiny girl up. Her head was hurting but she clearly remembered Lazarus words. A blush was set upon the girl's face. Although in her heart she knew that this happiness was going to end soon. The birds tweeted outside. Emerald opened the window and pushed herself up on the window seal. She was wearing a white night gown. She could hear the breathing of those around her sleeping.

"Miss.. MISS!"



Emerald looked down looking at a small girl. She was as tall as Emerald, her hair was long and purple. She wore clothes that were bright colored.

"Miss can you help me."

Emerald nodded towards the girl. She went back into the room and got dressed really quick. She then jumped out the window towards the girl. The girl smiled at Emerald happily.

"My cat is stuck in a tree."

Emerald followed the small girl to a big giant tree. It was massive much taller than the rest of the trees but sure enough there was the white kitten. Emerald signed softly and looked at the little girl. She was really worried about the cat. Shrugging her shoulders and signing she started to climb up the tree. Each hand was placed over the trunk as she began to mover over the tree branches hauling herself up each thing.

She was finally near the white kitten. It was shaking vigorously. Emerald looked at the kitten and reach her hand out. First thing it did was scartch Emerald's hand but she didn't flinch. Then the kitten hissed and bite at her fingers. Emerald scooped the kitten in her arms. But the kitten jumped into the air and into the sky.

Emerald stretched out her arm but the kitten fell right into the girl's arms. It was safe and sound now. Emerald secured herself on the branch but now she couldn't get down. The little girl started leaving with the kitten in hand.

"Wait a minute!"

Although the girl was far from hearing range. Emerald could stand heights but only when she was being supported by a single branch. She clutched on to the tree trying to find her footing. Although her foot slipped and she was now hanging from tree. She tried to lifted herself up but was failing miserly. Emerald looked down at the ground and knew that if she fell that she would probably fracture her leg.

Trying again Emerald finally got to her stomach on the tree branch.

"Help?"
