Official Topics Guide to Making and Performing Marine Tasks

Post by Admin on Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:23 am

Welcome aboard, sailor! Are you in need of a name for yourself to woo someone special into getting a drink with you? Or maybe you simply want to climb the marine ranks? No matter the reason, if you're in need of reputation, it's about time you work for it! This is a Guide to Making and Performing Marine Tasks! Look sharp, sailor!

    ~ Introduction ~

In case your superior failed to inform you (or you've spent too much time on your bum and forgotten), here is all you need to know about marine tasks. (What are they? How do they work?)

A marine task is a "mission" or "job" in which one marine or a group of marines work towards a goal. This goal is usually something legal, but there are a few corrupt people in the system**. You may even gain social standing with civilians or your superiors if you do well. This is when you will receive reputation points. Once you have finished a marine task, you will gain an addition to your reputation. Your reputation is based off your infamy within the World Government. The higher your reputation, the closer you are to reaching the top of the "legal-lovers ladder."

** NOTE: Marines are given three strikes before they are branded as criminals, allowing them to have an unethical morality choice three times around their peers without any negative things happening to them. Things done in private do not count.

As a marine, your reputation is the equivalent to EXP. You will constantly acquire a higher reputation as long as you keep doing Marine Tasks! This also means that you will be able to access higher level Marine Tasks to further increase your reputation when you reach the proper level.

New* You may Work with other Affiliations but you must have a good, long reason why you are working with either a Revolutionary or a Pirate. Also, you may work with marines that are not in your crew.

    ~ Marine Task Levels ~

There are three types of Marine Tasks.

Marine Recruit Tasks: These tasks are designed for beginner level marines. They consist of simple or easy jobs that any marine can do, given just a little time or skill. Examples of this kind of task would be helping civilians, transporting goods safely across the seas, repairing buildings and villages from recent pirate raids, attacking a Rookie-level pirate, ect. These tasks are nominal for recruits that are inexperienced and could never hold a candle to a Senior Marine or Veteran Pirate.

Senior Marine Tasks: Tasks of this level are reserved for seasoned marines that know how to handle themselves (and others, on occasion) to a degree. Jobs like these are compiled of difficult or complicated jobs that not many marines could successfully complete. Tasks of this quality involve such things like being a body guard to important people, guarding important artifacts, keeping a civilian rebellion under control, taking a defensive position in a village that may be attacked by pirates, attacking Veteran or large groups of rookie pirates, ect.

Elite Marine Tasks: Tasks of this level are only accessible by marines of the highest caliber. In terms of strength, speed, intellect, or power, they are rivaled by few and surpass many. Encountering (and pissing off) a marine of this level usually will spell jail time (or death if the marine is corrupt) for you. Jobs that only these elite can perform are so difficult or insane that they will be talked about for years to come by those of any and all professions. Tasks of this caliber include taking over a pirate-inhabited island, sinking a fleet of pirate vessels, enforcing and participating in a Buster Call, attacking several Veteran level or any army of rookie pirates, taking control over an island, ect.

    ~ Reputation (Detailed) ~

As a marine, your individual reputation means everything. Unlike with pirates, there is no "crew reputation."

One's reputation is the number of points that a marine has gained throughout his time as a marine. Any task completed this person will cause their reputation to increase, no matter the type. Any marine can establish his reputation. The only way you can incur a higher reputation is if you actually do something for the job. If you are in a task with someone else and you do not participate in any way, then you will not gain any reputation.

The rates for reputation points in correspondence to the rank of the task you are doing goes as follows.

IMPORTANT: Accomplishing tasks Solo will give you half of the reward allotted. Yes the mission is harder however just because YOU choose to make the mission harder does not mean you get a reward, and we want people working together in a community driven role play. Only Elite Marines are able to do Solo Tasks and gain the full reputation. You are only able to do solo tasks when in a crew as marine unless you're a rank 3.

    Recruit Marines:

Marine Recruits participating in Recruit Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 5,000,000 points And 1 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Marine Recruits participating in Senior Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 12,000,000 points And 2 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Rookie Crews participating in Elite Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 22,000,000 points And 3 Task Points for accomplishing the task.

(Note that if a recruit-leveled marine attempts to do a higher level task that they accept the fact that their character could die at any moment due to their lack of power. Risk for the reward~)

    Senior Marines:

Senior marines participating in Recruit Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 4,000,000 points And 1 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Senior marines participating in Senior Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 8,000,000 points And 2 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Senior marines participating in Elite Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 15,000,000 points And 3 Task Points for accomplishing the task.

(Note that if a senior-leveled marine attempts to do a higher level task that they accept the fact that their character could die at any moment due to their lack of power. Also, if a Senior-level marine decides to do a Recruit-level task, they will receive less reputation than usual seeing how they can handle recruit level tasks easily.)

    Elite Marines:

Elite marines participating in Recruit Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 3,000,000 points And 1 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Elite marines participating in Senior Ranked Tasks will receive a base reputation of 6,000,000 points And 2 Task Points for accomplishing the task.
Elite marines participating in Elite Ranked Tasks will receive a base bounty of 11,000,000 points And 3 Task Points for accomplishing the task.

(Note that if an Elite level marine decides to do a Recruit / Senior-level task, then they will receive less of a reward than usual seeing how they can handle recruit / senior level enemies easily.)

    *New* Task Points

For Task Rewards the Marine will gain a "Task Point"(s) Which they can then spend in the Task Rewards Shop. When you complete a Task you will be given a certain amount of Task Points in which you can spend on Beli, Special Gear, Weapons and other things like Stat gains or Special NPC to hire for your ship.
